What is the Cycle to work scheme?
The Cycle to Work scheme was introduced by the Department for Transport. The Government allows employers to hire bicycles and certain related safety equipment on a tax-free basis known as salary sacrifice scheme (see point 2). The Cycle to Work scheme helps to promote healthier journeys to work, and reduce environmental pollution. The University is working with Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative in order to make the scheme available to staff.
