What is the CVV number?
• The CVV number is a 3 or 4 digit number found on the reverse side of your credit or debit card. It adds an additional level of security to your transaction. The CVV Number is the last 3-digits printed on the signature strip on the back of your Visa card. The CVV Number uniquely identifies the card issued to a cardholder. This is another measure to safeguard your card. MBNA Business matches the card verification code against its own records to help verify that the person registering for the service is in physical possession of the card.
CVV = Card Verification Value CVV is an authentication procedure used by credit card companies to help reduce fraud. It consists of requiring a card holder to enter the CVV number in at transaction time to verify that the card is on hand.The CVV code is a security feature for “card not present” transactions (e.g., Internet transactions), and now appears on most (but not all) major credit and debit cards. This new feature is a three- or four-digit code which provides a cryptographic check of the information embossed on the card. Therefore, the CVV code is not part of the card number itself.
