What is the current status of ISIM?
(Status as of December 2009) The Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) project’s current priority is preparing for integration and test. All science instrument engineering models are nearing completion of test and will be delivered to GSFC within the next several months. Instrument flight model integration is underway. All flight detectors have been delivered to I&T. Development of ISIM-level test facilities is underway. The GSFC Space Environment Simulator (SES) has pass a key milestone with successful test of its liquid helium shroud (the largest helium shroud in the world). Integration of the cryogenic telescope simulator that will be used in the SES chamber is underway now. The ISIM flight structure has arrived at the GSFC Space System Development & Integration Facility (SSDIF) which is now fully dedicated to JWST. The ISIM team are now co-located in the SSDIF complex in preparation for I&T. The ISIM element is on schedule to support mission launch readiness during 2014. • Wh
