What is the current status in Greece concerning e-government?
In Greece, as in most countries worldwide, realising Information Society is a primary goal. For this purpose, the prime minister has a counsellor who is responsible for defining the vision and plan. The program on Information Society has been now completed and will be financed partially by the 3rd Community Support Framework (CSF), by the Greek public sector and by the private sector. The 3rd CSF will cover the period 2000-2006 and is probably the last that Greece is expected to receive. With regards to realising the Information Society each ministry and region in Greece have to prepare its own program. The Greek Information Society Program consists of many dimensions, with e-government being one of them. An important question is how the e-government initiative will be organised, managed and coordinated.
