To date the most extensive research done on minority representation in national parliaments covers fifty cases, representing approximately one-quarter of the worlds countries (Reynolds, State of the Worlds Minorities, 2007). While the list is partial it does include data from democracies and non-democracies, developed and developing, and figures from parliaments on every continent.
