What is the current situation regarding the governments response to the Parliamentary Ombudsman (PO) findings and will Prudential be supporting this work?
On the 20th October the Government announced its intentions and commitment to a transparent and fair payment scheme of compensation regarding the losses suffered by former Equitable Life policyholders. An Independent Commission has been set up by the Government and it is currently looking at all the options on how the compensation will be paid. For further information on the Commission please see their website: http://equitablelifepayments.independent.gov.uk/ Prudential does not expect to be involved in the calculations of compensation for each policyholder or involved in making compensation payments to individual policyholders. However as highlighted in the Welcome Brochure you received when your policy was transferred to Prudential, we will support the fair distribution of any Government compensation to our former Equitable Life customers.
