What is the Cultural Olympiad?
The Cultural Olympiad is a four year festival that puts culture and the arts alongside sport as never before for London 2012. The Cultural Olympiad is happening now. It is for everyone and it celebrates culture and the arts in London and in the UK; programmes will generate a positive cultural legacy by increasing participation, boosting audiences, developing cultural skills and capacity, helping urban regeneration, tourism and international links. Hackney is leading for the five host boroughs in the Cultural Olympiad, showcasing creative talent alongside sporting excellence. CREATE is a major new annual arts festival for East London. Starting in 2008, the aim is to develop CREATE into an arts festival in east London of similar scale to the Edinburgh Festival.
