What is the cultivation conditions: Glass vs. Plastic?

A considerable number of people have asked if we use bisphenol-A free containers to cultivate our products, particularly in light of the recent recall of water bottles and children’s baby bottles. Myco Essentials made a decision early in the development of the company to exclusively produce our mycelial products in food grade glass jars and not plastic! This decision effectively eliminates the potential of chemicals, present in plastic containers from leaching into the cultured product. Often plastics posses a multitude of components that render them malleable (phthalates) or chemicals which prevent UV induced decomposition (i.e., benzophenone derivatives). These compounds can potentially contaminate the product contained within, particularly under the high heat and pressures used to sterilize the culture substrates prior to inoculation. Glass containers elimnate these concerns.
