What is the Culinary Arts program? What does it prepare the students for?
This program is designed to prepare students for a career in the food service industry. They are trained in the basics of planning, purchasing and preparing food in quantity. They learn cooking techniques and preparation, selection and use of utensils and equipment, and safety and sanitation techniques involved in food preparation. Students also operate a dining room during lunch periods. Year two students continue with the study of kitchen design and layout, food costs, inventory costs and controls and the preparation for and service at banquets.
