What is the Crawford Rule in Backgammon?
The Crawford rule is an optional rule commonly used in backgammon matches played with the doubling cube. The rule states that when either one of the players misses only one point to win the match, then the next game will be played without the doubling cube. The cubeless game is called the “Crawford game”. Crawford rule has been adopted by US Backgammon Tournament Rules and Procedures.
