What is the Court of Appeals of Virginia?
The Court of Appeals of Virginia is an intermediate appellate court that hears appeals from the Circuit Courts in criminal, traffic and domestic relations matters. The Court of Appeals also hears appeals of cases from the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission. Eleven judges sit on the Court of Appeals. They are elected by the General Assembly to serve 8-year terms.
