The Life Sciences major, with its various options, has been replaced by two new majors: Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) and Integrative Biology (IB). Freshmen entering the University for Fall 2001 will be placed into the Biological Sciences Program. During their first year, they will take two one-semester introductory lecture courses (MCB 150 and IB 150), after which they will elect a major course of study in either MCB or IB. The School of MCB will offer seven new core curriculum courses (www.life.illinois.edu/mcb/undergraduate/courses) over the next three years beginning with MCB 150: The Molecular and Cellular Basis of Life.
