Last fall, the County applied for $99 million in federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER I) stimulus funds for the project, but did not receive funding. Applications for the $1.5 billion in available stimulus funds totaled $57 billion, making the award process highly competitive. However, thanks in large part to the leadership of Senator Patty Murray on transportation funding, we will have another opportunity to apply for federal stimulus dollars through the TIGER II program this summer.
