The figures are based on the comparative cost of over 200 items in each city, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment. The survey shows that it costs international students 27 per cent more to live in Sydney, 10 per cent more in Melbourne and 4 per cent more in Perth. Statistics from the Mercer Human Resource Worldwide Cost of living survey released in June 2007.
