What is the cost of life in Swiss (Geneva) compared to France (Paris)?
This was selected as Best Answer So… I moved from France to Switzerland 10 years ago… then, about 2 months ago, I moved back to France, but still working in Switzerland (I live now 30km from Geneva, but in France). Here is my experience: 1) Salaries. In Geneva, salaries tend to be about 1.5x to 2x what you would get in Paris (though this can change given that the EUR is today very high compared to the CHF). 2) Food tends to be more expensive in Geneva than in neighboring France, but fresh foods (veggies, fruit, fish, meat) tends to be proportionally better in quality also… So if you favor quality, shop for food in Geneva… if you favor price, shop across the border in France and stay within the duty free quotas, or cross the border at a point where controls are not in force. 🙂 3) Housing is extremely expensive in Geneva… and gets cheaper when you hit France across the border… a 150 m2 apartment in close Geneva suburbs is 1.5M CHF to buy… when a 250 m2 house on a 1400 m2 p
