Since implants involve surgery and are very complex and high-tech, they cost more than traditional fixed bridges. However, some dental procedures and portions of the restoration may be covered by dental and medical insurance policies. Your dentist can help you with this process. In our area of western Illinois, there are currently very few insurance policies that are written to include implant therapy. There are some employers in the central and eastern part of Illinois that have purchased plans that have near 100% coverage for implants. Please be sure to ask your dentist and employer what type of policy you have.
