What is the Correct Way to Pray a Blessing Over my Family?
First off, there are no special words or phrases that God considers to be more right than others when it comes to prayer. However, when you are blessing someone, it is important to say positive and encouraging words. You have no doubt heard the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” That is a LIE! Words do hurt. Sometimes words hurt so badly that people NEVER RECOVER. Saying things like, “You’ll never amount to anything in life,” often creates a self-fulfilling prophesy. No matter how many good things you say to your children and your spouse, those negative words cut like a knife and they tend to meditate on them a whole lot more than the positive words. Words can make or break people. When you are blessing your family, be sure to look for their good qualities and encourage them in those things. But, most important is to look in the Word of God, (the Bible) and find scriptures that correlate with your prayers and desires for their lives.
