What is the correct title of the marionette television series about Rubovia?
Although a great many people have written telling me that they remembered the marionette series title as “Tales of Rubovia”, this seems to have been due to a published reference that in the years before this website was conceived, was one of the few sources of information on the series. How “Legends” became “Tales” may be due to the pass the message around the circle effect (as the name was passed around the metaphorical circle of imperfect childhood memories the title morphed, and on 2nd or 3rd pass, to a large degree stuck). Nevertheless, without a doubt, the best person to answer this question is Mr. Rubovia himself, a.k.a. Gordon Murray. He wrote the scripts, made the puppets, directed and produced every Rubovian episode. Gordon obviously had “legends” in mind, rather than “tales”, because after completing the first three Rubovian puppet plays, Gordon mentioned Rubovia in a short article about television puppetry that he wrote for the official journal of the British Puppet and Mode
