What is the correct oil fuel ratio on my 25hp johnson outboard?

Use 50 to 1 ratio of gas to oil on this engine. Make sure it is TCW 3 rated. OMC went to a 100 to 1 ratio for a short time in the early 1980’s. However after encountering many problems they issued a recall and sent new stickers to be placed on the engines with a 50 to 1 recommendation. The original owner either ignored the recall or did not replace the sticker. Ignore the sticker on the engine and use a 50 to 1 mix. Regarding, stopping when idling for awhile, replace your spark plugs first and see if that solves the problem. If not, then adjust your low speed carb setting a quarter of a turn at a time. This engine should idle all day without stalling. Good luck.
