What is the Corporate Philanthropy Index (CPI)?

0

A central goal of this project was to create a Corporate Philanthropy Index (CPI)—a way to score a company on its philanthropic giving. The approach taken was to build a CPI from stakeholder measures of a company’s philanthropy. Test data found that a statistically reliable CPI measure could be constructed from a common set of three overall items: • Compared to other companies, (Company) does its fair share to help the community and society. • Overall, (Company) is the kind of company that helps the community and society by contributing things like time, volunteers, money, and sponsorships of nonprofit events and causes. • (Company) really seems to care about giving and making contributions to help the community and society. These items were each measured on a five-point agreement scale (1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree), then averaged to form the index. The index was statistically reliable for each stakeholder group of each company tested. Companies measuring multiple stake
