What is the copyright position of teachers employed by the WSCC who do some work and want to publish it?

Where an employee in the course of employment produces work, the copyright will belong to the employer unless there is agreement to the contrary. Therefore a teacher who produces original material as part of their job will not own the copyright, WSCC will. The difficulty sometimes arises when a teacher may state this was not part of their job, but produced at home, outside school hours. If you as a teacher would like to publish work – talk to your headteacher first.
