What is the container on the top of many Swedish snus cans for?
I’m embarrassed to say the answer to this didn’t occur to me until I asked the owner of my local tobacco shop. When you’re out and about and the snus packet in your mouth is spent, instead of throwing it in the bushes or dropping it on the ground, you store your used snus in this container until you can empty it into a trash can. Says a lot about the differences in cleanliness between Sweden and the US. In fairness, though, I’m still on the Eclipse cigarette mailing list. If you haven’t read my articles on Eclipse, it heats the tobacco instead of burning it so when the cigarette is done, it looks like an unsmoked cigarette. Eclipse sent me two very attractive wallet-looking devices which are lined with aluminum. This way Eclipse smokers can store their used cigarettes in the pouches instead of throwing what looks like a complete cigarette on the ground.
