What is the consumer dispute redressal mechanism in India?
The Consumer protection Act, 1986 has laid down a three-tier mechanism for simple, speedy and cheap dispute resolution. Firstly all cases where the valuation is up to rupees twenty lakhs can file a case in the District Forums. Secondly, the State Consumer Commissions, a suit where the valuation is up to one crore can be filed. Thirdly, the National Consumer Commission (NCDRC) cases where valuation is above one crore can be filed.
