What is the Connexions Service?
Connexions is a exciting national service, which was launched in Lancashire in April 2002. The new service offers all young people, aged 13 to 19, expert guidance, advice and support from qualified professionals to help them make important decisions about their life. In some circumstances young people with a learning difficulty or disability may not be ready to move on at 19. In these instances Connexions support may be provided up to 25. Support offered is based on an individual young person’s needs from a named Personal Adviser or through one of our Connexions Centres. The vision for the Connexions Service in Lancashire is to enable all young people to realise their full potential. To do this we work closely with schools and colleges, the Youth Service, Lancashire Learning and Skills Council, employers, training providers and a wide range of other organisations providing advice and support, to meet the needs of local young people.
