What is the connection between respiratoy diseases and metabolic rate?!?
I am not sure if you are talking about a specific respiratory disease or even a specific reason for change in metabolic rate. So I have to make conceptual connections. Hmm, this is the only connection I can make and I could be completely wrong: high metabolism= high energy demand= high Oxygen to CO2 conversion high CO2 stimulates central respiratory centers = increased respiratory rate (RR). high RR = increased exposure to external environment with bacteria/toxin SOO… 1) “How is respiratory disease a consequence of our metabolic rate?” well that’s pretty much what I explained before. 2) “What would make you more prone to resp diseases: high or low metabolic rates?” according to the reasoning above… High metabolic rate 3) “What’re the common resp diseases that affect metabolic rates?” Any disease that effects the lung and causes respiratory acidosis/alkalosis will change metabolic rates.
