What is the connection between Elliotts Amazing Juices and the Keswick Theatre?
In 1988, I joined a group of 4 other investors to renovate and operate a 1366 seat performing arts theatre located in Glenside, PA (outside Philadelphia). The theatre was built in 1928 as a movie and vaudeville theatre and closed in 1980. A non-profit group, headed by Chuck Schraeder, “saved” the theatre from demolition, but ran out of money and defaulted on the mortgage. The Keswick Theatre has become a show place for a wide variety of jazz, new age, world, singer-song writer, comedy acts. It was a toss up between making more iced tea from powder like Snapple or investing time and money in the Keswick Theatre.\ The theatre is now the cornerstone of the commercial district in Glenside with new exciting businesses coming into the area. After 14 years, my partners and I sold the business in February 2002. There are about 150 events a year in the building. Call 215-572-7650 to get a brochureor check the schedule of events.
