What is the Conditioning Period?
Antiperspirant studies require a “washout” period, also called a “conditioning” period. The participant must cease using any antiperspirant products and begin to use the deodorant product that is provided by Hill Top. These deodorant products are currently marketed deodorants such as Right Guard or Crystal Spray Mist which is distributed, without charge, to any antiperspirant study participant. This washout period lasts from 3-5 weeks before the study’s start. Hill Top Research asks that all participants maintain washout when not on studies so that participants can be eligible for about one antiperspirant study each month. Any time that regular AP participants run out of deodorant product, they can bring their empty container to the lab and we will replace their supply.
