What is the Computerized Placement Test (CPT)?
The CPT test is used across Florida to determine which courses you need in English and mathematics. If you have not taken the ACT or SAT (or if your scores were not high enough), you need to take the CPT exam. To better prepare yourself for the CPT, please ask the testing department at your campus about PASS, the practice version of the CPT. You will want to take PASS before you take the CPT. You may take PASS twice before taking the CPT exam. You may take the CPT no more than two times. Miami Dade College will use the higher of your two exam scores. The important thing to know is that you cannot register for classes at Miami Dade until you have taken the CPT and your CPT scores will determine which courses you can take. So you want to make sure you do as well as you can. Learn more about testing.
