Brass is an alloy of the metals copper and zinc (not aluminium).)in various proportions according to what it is to be used for. As to who invented brass we simply do not know, it has been around for thousands of years (mentioned in the O.T. Bible) The most probable truth is that it was found by accident some time after the Bronze Age. The ores of zinc are often found associated with the ores of tin (bronze being the alloy of copper and tin) and could well have been confused by our ancestors resulting in zinc replacing some or all the tin in their attempts to produce bronze. We will never really know as there were no written records kept so long ago.
