You may have heard that Congress has changed the way that Medicare determines how much it pays for certain durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) and who can furnish these items. Starting July 1, 2008, some areas will begin to see the effects of the new Competitive Bidding Program. The intent of the Competitive Bidding Program is to save money while ensuring that Medicare Beneficiaries receive quality medical equipment, supplies and services.
