What is the compatibility between Microsoft Office and OpenOffice?
On tests carried out on standard documents, OpenOffice is read / write – compatible with Microsoft Office 2003 and earlier (.doc,.xls,.ppt), read – compatible with Microsoft Office 2007 (.docx,.xlsx,.pptx), though support for VBA macros is not guaranteed. The OpenOffice suite provides a standard export function in Adobe Acrobat (PDF). This format should be preferred for all documents used to communicate with others(non-collaborative work documents).
