What Is The Comparison Between An Asana And An Exercise?
An asana is an exercise that is done with awareness of the movement, co-ordination with the breathing and with a natural inbuilt gap of stillness between the movement of the exercise. In fact it is at this stage that an exercise gets converted into an asana. Also asanas are movements that are done in a specific order. As a result asanas benefit the entire system starting with the internal glands & organs. Asanas slow the respiration & the metabolic rates & also affect the electrochemical activity of the brain whereas exercises which benefit the body by creating positive stress speed up the respiration & the metabolism.
