What is the Community Foundation of Brevard (CFB)?
The CFB administers dozens of charitable endowment Funds created by private gifts. We are remarkably flexible. We serve almost any charitable purpose, adapting to a broad range of individual needs and to the interests of other nonprofit organizations. The CFB is a general purpose, philanthropic, nonprofit organization and is tax-exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS Code. Donors are assured that their accounts remain relevant. Unique among American public charities, community foundations have variance authority, allowing the Foundation to alter the terms of a charitable fund if that fund becomes obsolete. For example, a fund set up generations ago to help find a cure for polio might today be redirected to other forms of neurological disease like Multiple Sclerosis. We do not operate any service programs.
