What is the common wall construction between condominium units?
The building features a concrete floor assembly and either a concrete block or steel or wood stud structure between the units, depending on the location within the building. Any steel stud common walls between condominiums are constructed using a double wall technology, where two rows of staggered studs are separated by an air space. The cavity, lined with insulation, has on one side a double layer of drywall, while the other side has a single layer of drywall with sound clips (drywall is 5/8″ thick.) This is a proven wall system with a very satisfactory sound transmission co-efficient.
