What is the Colorado Basic Skills Assessment?

0

Colorado law (CRS-23-1-113.3) requires that all freshman and transfer students be assessed for their basic skills in mathematics, reading, and writing. We use ACT, SAT, and Accuplacer scores, previous remedial coursework with a grade of C- or higher, and previous college coursework with a grade of C- or higher to make the assessments according to Colorado Commission on Higher Education policy. Do I need to take the assessment tests? If you have successfully completed college level mathematics and college level composition, you may be exempt from assessment. If you have not taken college level math or college level composition, you should submit your ACT or SAT scores (taken after to 2001) to help determine your placement. For more information, contact Soyon Bueno, Transfer Coordinator at (970) 382-6985.
