I am familair with gold leaf, the metal which is pure gold nothing added. Depending on which way you burnish it you can get different effects. Engine turning, a ball of felt or velvet turned over a cotton ball and pressed against the surface and turned a quarter turn will give you a beautiful effect (especially when the sunlight hits it) or burnished one way (horizontal) or the other itwill darken the effect of reflected light. It is all about the properties of reflected light. If you haveever seen a fire engine with REAL gold leaf (not the gold on vynll) there is a difference. The real gold is brighter.
