What is the Collection Identifier?
The Data Collection Identifier identifies which set of three months (or ‘Quarter’) in a year the Agency is reporting. The Data Collection Identifier is in the format “YYYY/N” where YYYY identifies the year of the collection, and N identifies the collection within the year. The first data collection of the year is at the start of 2005, from 1st January to 31st March. It is identified as “2005/1”. The second data collection, from 1st April – 30th June 2005 will be “2005/2”, and so on. The third data collection, from 1 July – 30 Sept 2005 will be “2005/3”. The fourth data collection 1 October – 31 December 2005 will be identified as “2005/4”. Make sure you put the right collection identifier on the header record when you transmit data at the end of the collection period. It will need to be updated each collection, ie every three months (or ‘Quarter’). Refer to HACC MDS Technical Guidelines for more detail.
