What is the Cold Lake Soaring Club?
The Cold Lake Soaring Club is one of the only Military Flying Clubs in Canada. Based out of our own hangar in Medley (right on CFB Cold Lake), the CLSC is equipped with a Blanik L-13 dual seat glider, a Schweizer 1-26 single seat glider, a Bellanca Scout Tow Aircraft, and all the other necessary equipment and vehicles required to fly on weekends from April-October. While the Cold Lake Soaring Club enjoys an excellent working relationship with the Canadian Forces and 4 Wing Cold Lake, membership is not exclusive to CF members and the Soaring Club welcomes involvement from all areas of the community. Why join the Cold Lake Soaring Club? The answer is simple: There is no cheaper way to experience the thrills of flying. Being a member of the CLSC offers a number of benefits. First off, an hour of flying gliders is between 1/2 and1/4 the cost of renting a Cessna from local flying clubs and there is no extra charge when you need to fly with an instructor.
