What is the Coachella Valley MSHCP and how does it affect my property?
The Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (CVMSHCP) aims to conserve over 240,000 acres of open space and protect 27 plant and animal species. By providing comprehensive compliance with federal and state endangered species laws, the plan not only safeguards the desert’s natural heritage for future generations, but will allow for more timely construction of roads and other infrastructure essential to improving the quality of life in the Coachella Valley. Approximately 1,900 acres of the 4,000 acre project area lies within the CVMSHCP conservation area. Upon annexation into the City of Desert Hot Springs the policies and provisions of the CVMSHCP will continue to apply.
