What is the clinical utility of Onko-Sure™?
Onko-Sure™ has multiple clinical uses: 1) cancer pre-screen, 2) detection of tumor marker after surgical resection of a cancerous tumor, or 3) monitoring for recurrence of cancer in patients who were previously treated for cancer. When Onko-Sure™ is used as a non-invasive, pre-screen for cancer, a low Onko-Sure™ test reading can potentially avoid a costly follow up with other potentially more invasive methods. If the Onko-Sure™ test indicates a high risk during pre-screen, additional tests should be performed to determine the type and extent of cancer. Cancer monitoring programs have also emerged as an important tool in enhancing survival in cancer patients post-surgery and post-treatment. Recurrence rates for patients that have been treated for cancer vary depending on the type and stage of cancer; however, as many as 50% of patients are diagnosed with cancer again within 5 years of their previous cancer treatment.
