Unfortunately, the reporting led to the conclusion that Neenah had lead in its’ water. There is no lead in the water that leaves the treatment plant. However, some homes have lead service and pipes inside their home. The City is required to conduct bi annual tests of 60 homes to determine if there is lead in that homes water. Several homes had been discovered to have higher than acceptable levels of lead. Although most homes have very low levels of lead in their drinking water, some homes in the community have lead levels above the EPA action level of 15 parts per billion or 0.015 milligrams per liter of water. Under federal law we are required to have a program in place to minimize lead in drinking water by July 2007. We are carrying out that program and if anyone has any questions they should call 886-6182 for details.
