What is the Christmas Basket Project?
The St. Austin Christmas Basket Project, an annual tradition in our parish, ministers to more than 140 households each year by providing food and gifts for Christmas. Our goal this year is 100% parish-wide participation. The Christmas Basket Project traditionally begins with each household’s donation of food items that are brought to the church on Thanksgiving Day for Mass. Look for the bags at church entrances beginning on Saturday, November 15 and fill it with the items suggested below. Check out the calendar of dates below for this year’s project. There are a variety of ways to be involved and participate in this outpouring of service to our brothers and sisters in need. Important Dates to Remember November 15-26: Fill your bag with the following types of foods and return to the church at the Thanksgiving Day Mass: Canned vegetables: beans, peas, carrots, corn, mixed vegetables Canned fruits: pears, peaches, pineapple Bags of stuffing, Bags of rice, Bags of nuts/popcorn/candy Please
