The Chooser is a program that Macintosh computers use to get around over ethernet. Basically, it consists of three windows: • Appletalk and printer icons; • Available Appletalk Zones • Available servers or printers The Chooser. The KUSD ethernet is accessed by clicking the Appletalk icon to reach another computer, or a printer icon to get to a network printer. The usual printer icon is “LaserWriter 8”. In addition, the Chooser is used to connect to a non-networked printer, such as a Stylewriter or HP694 printer. The Chooser must be used whenever changing printers. When accessing another computer, you must log on first. Some servers allow you to log on as “Guest”, or a username and/or password may be required for security reasons.
