What is the Choctaw Indian origin myth?
The Choctaw had been traveling across dense forest and rough terrain, carrying on their shoulders the bones of their dead which were beginning to outnumber the living. They came upon a creek where exhausted, they decided to set up camp for the winter. There are several versions of this story. All of them revolve around the central element of a “sacred hill” from which good fortune and abundant food came.
