It depends on WHEN you are going to travel. Travel to Europe is the most expensive in the summer. Rates are often double in the summer than other times of the year. Often airlines run specials and it does not hurt to shop around. So, for example, now you can book a flight with Virgin Atlantic from NY to London in January for about $500 roundtrip, including taxes. That is pretty cheap. In the summer it could be double that and if gas prices keep going up, it could be much more.
