What is the cheapest leica camera that money can buy?
Think about this for a minute: do you want a Leica camera body or access to the Leica LENSES? If the lenses are what you are going for (and you should be) the Bessa Voigtlander rangefinders are the cheapest way to go for cameras that will take the Leica lenses but your best bet in a rangefinder is probably the Zeiss Ikon for about $1,600. Although it is does not have the construction quality of a Leica it is probably a camera you would prefer to use for all around photography. Otherwise go for a used Leica M3 – a 50 year old camera that is legendary. You should be able to get one with a 50mm f2 lens for about $1,000. I recommend that you consider the Zeiss Ikon instead of a modern Leica because of the cost differential which would buy you a LOT of film and processing and you could always get a Leica body later.
