What is the cheapest best way to make tents sleeping bags and other camping gear?
I feel that you would not be able to make rugged trustworthy equipment, unless you are skilled in those areas that would be cost effective. Please don’t take offense but the camping products that are out there today are mass produced and that is usually the least expensive way to manufacture something. There is a lot of research that goes into caping gear. You could sew two blankets together to make a sleeping bag but what kind of thermal protection would it give. Most tents are a little water proof and to make one that is waterproof you would have to have very tight seams where you sew them and also treat the material with a waterproofing agent. Back in the days of the pioneers, they had to make everything they needed so it is possible. You could do it, but it would be very time comsuming and it may cost you more that it would to buy them.
