What is the cheaper route to homeschooling for regular curriculum ?
Curriculum that you put together yourself. There are all sorts of avenues to get discounted curriculum – consignment shops, used curriculum sales, eBay, Vegsource swap, and the library. All-in-one curriculum is more expensive, but it means less legwork for you. Do-it-yourself curriculum is cheap or free, but it means more prep and effort on your part. This is where you ask yourself…do I have more time, or is the money worth my time? I previously put all my curriculum together myself, nearly for free; however, my son is now in middle school and some things have changed to where my time is at a premium, so I went ahead and bought a set of curriculum that comes with video lessons that are extremely well done. This doesn’t mean that I’ll be hands off – I’ll still watch and discuss the lessons with him and work on the enrichment projects with him – but I know that on the days I’m not able to do this, he’s still getting quality instruction.
