Phylum arthropoda consist of four main classes. The first class is class crustacea. These are aquatic and have gills for respiration. Their appendages are modified for capturing food, swimming, respiration and reproduction. Their coelom is much reduced and is called homocoel. Sexes are mostly separate. Daphnia and cyclops are the examples of crustaceans. The second class is class insecta. They Are found everwhere. Their body consist of head, abdomen and thorax region. Abdomen has various number of segments. Metamorphosis takes place during development.Sexes are separate and oviparous. Butterflies, moths and wasps are the examples of class insecta. Third class is class Arachnida. They have the first segment fused with the thorax region. Sexes are separate and oviparous. There is no true antennae and jaws. There is no true metamorphosis. Respiration is through gills, lungs and other structures called book lungs. Fourth class is class Myriapoda. Their body is divided into large segments.
