What is the change to member-to-member email, and how does it protect privacy and reduce fraud?
Starting in September, eBay will “anonymize” email addresses sent through the member-to-member communication system (Ask Seller a Question, Reply to Question). When users hit the “reply” button, the email is routed through eBay before being sent to the original sender. This enables eBay to detect and stop fraudulent messages and prevents fraudsters from easily obtaining buyer email addresses and taking transactions off eBay.
